HistoryIn recent years, Sonoma County has gained renown for high-tech talent and technology. This is due in part to the growth and development of training programs such as the Web Site Development Certificate available at Santa Rosa Junior College. Sonoma County Web Developers SIG was originally created in 1998 by Linda Hemenway of the Computer and Information Sciences department at Santa Rosa Junior College, and Jenifer Levini of Web Presence. Santa Rosa Junior College remains as one of our sponsors. Through Santa Rosa Junior College, many local Web site design firms began their dialogue, coming together to help SRJC assemble a Web certificate program. After meeting and hearing each other voice the same frustrations and triumphs, the sense of camaraderie was born. Ms. Levini began organizing meetings and speakers for our aptly named group during the first year of its existence. Gary Gannon, Managing Partner of Virtual Warehouse, wrote the mission statement and Jim Adler, Manager of Web Casting for Agilent Technologies, contributed feedback to all aspects of the groups development. The organization has elected officers to handle the various duties and to continue to serve the Web development community in Sonoma County. Members include professionals at local companies such as Agilent, the County of Sonoma, Completely Creative, Web Presence, OReilly & Associates and North Bay Multimedia Association.
