Panel Biographies

CDClark Web Development - Carol Clark

 

Carol Clark is the owner of CDClark Web Development, a local web development firm specializing in database integration. She is the current president of the North Bay Multimedia Association and previously served as the managing editor of NBMA's Multimedia Reporter.

Carol’s background includes law firm and recreational sports shop management. As a regional director of the United States Hang Gliding Association, she was one of the pioneers in self-regulating the sport, and she edited the first Bay Area hang gliding newsletter. Her first publication, a story about her initial high altitude hang gliding flight at Big Sur, was recently published in Women in the Wild, a Travelers’ Tale book.

WA Interactive - Annette Arnold

 

Annette Arnold has more than 20 years of experience in advertising design and production. After studying film and communications at San Francisco State University, she joined Ketchum Advertising in San Francisco. As broadcast producer she was responsible for the production of TV and radio commercials, industrial videos and new business presentations for the advertising agency. She learned the print business at Nestlé Beverage Company as production manager for the package design department.

After moving to the North Bay, she managed client projects for the marketing firm of Ponseti & Partners. Her interest in the World Wide Web intensified four years ago when she began working with the team at WAI as project manager. Since then she has produced many websites for leading North Bay businesses.

WA Interactive is a boutique design firm located in downtown Santa Rosa. Started eight years ago by creative director Mark Wegner, the firm specializes in websites, interactive CD-ROMs and occasionally, print. WAI maintains a small core staff and outsources as specific projects demand. The team enjoys the challenge of working with clients in the North Bay, including many wineries and high-tech firms.

Web Habitat -John Roush

 

John Roush established Web Habitat in 1995 as one of the first companies focused on browser-based application development. His ability to leverage over a decade of leadership experience in large-scale network design and financial application development enables Web Habitat’s staff to provide its customers with superior solutions in record time. Past work includes solutions for VISA International, Visa Interactive, AT&T Information Systems, MicroAge Computer Centers, California State agencies, Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (PARC), Teachers' Curriculum Institute, Elan Pharmaceuticals, and qMags.com.

Based in Rohnert Park, Web Habitat employs over a dozen full-time professional staff, including specialists in web development, visual design, database design, systems and project management. Among Web Habitat's current projects are retail e-commerce and back-end fulfillment systems for the educational, financial, and consumer publishing industries.

Web Presence - Jenifer Levini

 

The driving force and creative energy behind Web Presence, president and chief imagineer Jenifer Levini is a Ph.D. biologist who directed her passion for science into a taste for web-centric entrepreneurial business at the web’s inception. After humble HTML beginnings at Cornell University, Jenifer leveraged her marketing background while employed by a website design firm in New York in 1995.

Jenifer soon moved back to her native California, quickly establishing Web Presence in 1996. In just 5 years, Web Presence has attracted clients ranging from the Los Angeles Unified School District (the second largest school district in the country), to the County of Sonoma, the City of Healdsburg, large San Francisco-based corporations, KRCB Television & Radio Stations, Los Angeles-based Brown & Dutch Public Relations, and many wineries.

Her marketing credits include developing a highly successful campaign that launched the SCUBA diving industry in Southern California in the 1980’s. Jenifer set up a new distribution channel for Sea Studios in Monterey by introducing a marine biology education program through the nationwide Elderhostel system. The fruits of this project developed into an underwater discovery video series available in Nature Company retail locations nationwide. She developed a strategic marketing program for a subsidiary of the M&T Bank chain in New York and online marketing strategies for East Coast-based Spider Graphics.

A highly involved community member and respected businesswoman, Jenifer serves as board Vice President for the Web Development Certificate Program at SRJC. She founded and chaired the Sonoma County Web Developers SIG (Special Interest Group). A Graduate of Leadership Santa Rosa, she currently serves as a member of LSRAA Board of Directors, and has advised the Santa Rosa City Schools Technology Advisory Committee and the SCORE/SBA (Service Corp of Retired Executives/Small Business Administration) Board of Directors on several E-Business Conferences. Jenifer also volunteers for public television, the Santa Rosa Education Cooperative and Madrone Elementary School. Happily married, she is the mother of a 6-year-old daughter and a 3½-year-old son.

Sparkart - Naveen K. Jain

 

Naveen Jain is the owner of Sparkart LLC, a cutting-edge new media design and development firm with major entertainment industry and insurance industry clients. Sparkart has been in business since 1999. In the last 2 years, Sparkart has become an important player in the web development, database integration and hosting arena. Sparkart has a talented staff of award-winning designers and developers and is positioned to serve any industry and any client globally. The 2001 client list includes platinum-selling recording artists Static-X, Linkin Park, and Rob Zombie as well as corporate sector clients such as Goldman Insurance, Benefits Alliance and Ordersmart.com.   

Naveen Jain was born in San Francisco, California, in 1980. He is currently attending Santa Rosa Junior College working to attain his B.A. degree in communications. He is the former Editor-in-Chief of Pure Gaming Network and has more than eight years experience in online communications, design and development.

FreeRun Technologies, Inc - Daryl Burch

 

Daryl Burch is a senior web designer for FreeRun Technologies, Inc.

Burch came to FreeRun with extensive experience in graphic arts for the hospitality industry. His previous work included many aspects of media development. Many Bay Area entertainers have utilized his services and talents.

Burch has served as an account manager in product development for Epigraphix, an e-communications company. He also acted as senior-level support technician for the retail scanner company, Visioneer.

With a passion for the performing arts, Burch attended the University of Cincinnati—College Conservatory of Music where he worked toward his Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Studies, Trombone. Burch brought an eclectic background to FreeRun’s design team with a professional history that has taken him from graphic design utilizing Flash and HTML to composing and orchestrating over 150 pieces for performances throughout the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line.

Burch is an award-winning web designer. He was presented the 2001 Award for Best Design: Business from the North Bay Media Association, Best of the North Bay Awards for his work on the Stags’ Leap Winery web site—www.stagsleap.com. Burch was also published in Smart Computing magazine in April 2001, “Understanding Basic Design.”

In his free time, Burch enjoys cooking as well as experiencing Napa Valley and San Francisco fine dining, spending time with his wife and 3-year-old son, and performing with his Bay Area band, Radio Noise.

Alexis Kestler attended Revere academy of Design and Jewelry arts. Apprenticing at Shuler- McTiege (A Tiffany and Co. design and manufacturing House) in NY. Alexis has over 20 years experience in design, communications and business management.

Alexis attended the Web Design program at the Santa Rosa Junior College until begining her current position as a senior web designer with PBHS Inc.
